The above link will take you to the Amazon Business – Illumin8 Hope Ministries’ Christmas Wish List for 2023 Yeah, I get it. You’re probably like, “They’re already talking about Christmas, and we just had Labor Day.” I know, it’s still more than three months away. But, even though Halloween and Thanksgiving haven’t arrived yet, Christmas is coming up fast. And that means we need to start thinking about shipping stuff via cargo ship! We gather goodies and toys for our annual Christmas Blessing Bags for the kids in Honduras. Why? Most children in The Bight get a single special gift for Christmas – a Christmas meal from the church and a rare for them red apple. That’s all they usually get for Christmas. We want to change that. We want to show God’s love for all people! —— The Why!!! Blessing Bag? What is that? Our partner church, Capilla Punta Caliente, hosts a yearly Christmas Program, written and performed by the Church’s Youth group for the community. After the program, each child is given by Jesus, an actor of course, a “bag of presents” or “Blessing Bag.” There are approximately 400 total distributed yearly. With any remaining bags, the Youth Group will go out on Christmas Day after serving the Christmas Meal and distribute to those who could not make it to church. |
We want them to know that “Everything we have and receive is from God through His Son, Jesus the Messiah.” — The Why!!! Our blessing bags contain all kinds of “presents,” or blessings as we call them, for each child. Inside can be found fun snack food items, candy, chips, etc. We try to put personal care items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, body or hair soap and sanitizer inside. And of course, the gift of a new toy. Backpack bags (to put everything in and for use in school too) Snacks: Raisins, granola bars, trail mix, chips, goldfish, hard candy, crackers, cookies, skittles, tootsie rolls, etc. (to fill their little, hungry tummies with yummies) Unisex: Card games (Uno, Smack It, Old Maid), checkers, coloring books, crayons, bracelets, bookmarks, etc. Babies/Small Kids: Sand buckets, baby toys, rattles, sunglasses, stuffies, etc. Girls: Hair bows, Barbie dolls, toy purses, action figure, hair brushes, etc. Boys: Legos, cars & monster trucks, hacky sack foot bags, action figures, etc. |
